HIMSS Annual 5010/ICD-10 Survey

January 2010 UPDATE: HIMSS completed its third survey assessing 5010 readiness among healthcare stakeholders in December 2010. Some of the results were reported during the multi-collaborative "GetReady5010.org" webinar that attracted over 18,000 registrants.

Survey History:

In 2009, HIMSS initiated a new survey among its membership to assess 5010 readiness. The survey also assesses the level of ICD-10 projects and activity. Please refer to the

The first survey was completed by 56 organizations. Results were were provided at a hearing organized by the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics.

The second survey was recently completed. It was distributed to HIMSS members as well as to AAHAM members (American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management) through a special collaboration that has been developed with this group. It was completed by 203 organizations. A summary analysis is being prepared and will be placed here and in the HIMSS 5010/ICD-10 Resource Center.

A webinar announcing the results was hosted by AAHAM (see AAHAM presentation below). HIMSS will continue to poll the industry semi-annually with a focus  on meeting the needs of the provider community for timely and relevant resources on 5010\ICD-10.
